Bullocks Terrace.

Just off Friars Street is a narrow lane leading to some delightful ‘guerilla’ gardening. Bullocks Lane and Bullocks Terrace have been transformed by individuals who have taken on the task of making their town more beautiful.

On Thursday, I went along to meet Sue Lawson who planted up and maintains the long strip of garden on Bullocks Terrace. Dan Wheals, Sudbury’s ‘Grow Your Community’ co-ordinator, and Lorna Hoey from the Sudbury Society, who recently launched their Love Sudbury campaign, were already hard at work when I arrived. Within an hour we had completed all the weeding, filled a wheely bin, and had a lovely chat. The garden, unsurprisingly, drew compliments from various passersby.

Sue already has her sights set on the small strip of land just around the corner – and if you would like to help Sue with that or the existing garden, you can contact her via greener Sudbury, Dan or Lorna (please click on the links above, highlighted in green, to find contact details).

Green Belt Public Meeting.

Please show your love for Sudbury by joining in the Green Belt Public Meeting at St Peter’s Church

next Tuesday, 25th April at 7.15pm.

With so much of the land round our town now earmarked for yet more development, we are speaking up to question why there is no longer a Vision for Sudbury! We believe good planning would give the jobs and houses we need, yet still let us live in the countryside.

Sudbury still has the people with ideas, devotion, and a memory of what a beautiful town is like! So please come and hear information from our speakers, the election candidates, and Teresa Bishop, Charlie Haylock, Ralph Carpenter and Theo Bird.

Love Sudbury and Great Cornard’s Green Belt ~ while there still is one!

NB This is not a Greener Sudbury event, but is posted on behalf of the Sudbury Green Belt group.

Extra Friday Tidy – Roy’s tubs!

Join us at 10:00 on friday 14th April for an extra…

Friday Tidy!

dscf7963 We plan to fit in another extra Friday Tidy at the end of this week, to sort out the tubs at the back of Roy’s on Great Eastern Road (across from the back entrance to Thing-me-Bobs). Another one that is ideal if you aren’t too keen on kneeling!

New faces always welcome – just come along ready for some gardening!

Eggshell-ent Idea!

Dan Wheals, the new ‘Grow Your Community’ co-ordinator for Sudbury, has asked if anyone has any clean egg shells and/or egg boxes for planting up – as large a piece of egg shell as possible please!

Take them along to Dan at Belle Vue Park between 10am and noon, and why not join in with some community gardening there at the same time?

Alternatively, drop them off with us at the Kingfisher Friday Tidy on 7th April if you are passing or coming to help out – we will be there between 10am and noon.

ps How many of you said the title out loud, and sounded just like Sean Connery? Just me then…
